What is DTI (Debt-to-income ratio)???
Your debt-to-income ratio (DTI) compares how much you owe each month to how much you earn. Specifically, it's the percentage of your gross monthly income (before taxes) that goes towards payments for car payments, mortgage, credit cards, student loans or other debt.
The DTI really affects how much of a loan you can afford when trying to buy a property. If you have a lot of debt the max amount you can borrow goes down, HOWEVER if you don’t have a lot of debt you can get a higher loan amount!
